DSK ASPHALT WITH SURFACE TREATMENT

Aerial view of STM on the road

Economical road surface renovation without cracking using DSK asphalt layers, BiKaFlex-Sami and ST

This combines two well-known methods – DSK (thin asphalt surface layer in cold construction) with a surface treatment (ST). While DSK is able to level the surface and seal the substrate, it has the disadvantage of lacking elasticity. This is compensated for by ST, which in turn lacks the properties of DSK. While a thin layer of asphalt is applied cold in DSK, in ST the surface is sprayed with a binding agent and then sprinkled with aggregate. Combining these two methods is almost equivalent to a new surface layer that levels out unevenness, creates a new roughness, can absorb cracks coming from below, i.e. absorbs movements in the material, and is therefore much more stress-resistant overall.

STM BiKa-Flex

BiKaFlex-Sami is a project of the STM working group and SUT Straßen- und Umwelttechnik GmbH.
