The history of STM tells an impressive journey full of challenges and successes. It all began in 1909, when a family of factory owners from Karlsruhe applied for the construction and business license for the "Adolf Homberger roofing felt factory" in Malsch. At that time, Adolf Homberger already operated a factory at Sophienstrasse 146 in Karlsruhe, both plants with the same goal: the production of roofing felt and tar products.

company's purpose
The purpose of the company is the distillation of raw tar and the further processing of the distillates, the production of all types of tar products, cold asphalt, cutback bitumen, building protection agents, insulating compounds and other products of the tar and asphalt industry as well as the distribution of such products.
In other words, STM manufactures bituminous-based products for road construction, road repair and building protection. All products manufactured in-house are processed using the so-called cold installation process (i.e. no hot asphalt or similar). In addition to selling these products, STM also rents out the appropriate vehicles and equipment for installing the products (e.g. repair train for surface treatment, ramp sprayer for applying composite materials, etc.).

The products manufactured include cold asphalt, cutback bitumen, building protection agents and insulating compounds. All products are processed using the cold application method, which is characterized by efficiency and sustainability.
