SAMI Layers

Application
The SAMI layer (Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer) is used when two layers need to be connected, especially if the layers are made of two different materials – such as concrete at the bottom and asphalt at the top – as these expand differently when exposed to heat. Does the substrate have cracks? In this case, a SAMI layer is also applied to prevent it from expanding upwards. And if open-pored asphalt is laid, it serves as drainage and the SAMI layer underneath acts as a seal to the substrate so that water can drain away.
