Edge Sealing

Protection of the road edge areas
Edge sealing in road construction refers to the sealing of the edges of the roadway to protect the asphalt shoulder from water penetration from the side. This is important to ensure the durability and stability of the road. After the asphalt layers have been installed, the higher edges – both edges in areas prone to distortion – are sealed. Sealing is usually carried out with hot bitumen, which is applied precisely using modern spraying equipment. Before application, the surface must be carefully cleaned and dry to ensure good adhesion of the bitumen.
